FROM THE PASTOR
As we approach the holiday season, our staff is beginning to prepare for Christmas Eve worship. We will certainly be live streaming our service on December 24 to our YouTube channel so that you may watch from home. It will air live at 7:00 p.m. The recording will also be available for later viewing.
If you plan attend the Christmas Eve service in person in the sanctuary, please let us know. Because of Covid restrictions and having missed Christmas Eve worship last year (not to mention Easter – twice!) I am not sure what to plan for on Christmas Eve. We will definitely have a service for people to attend in the church. Letting us know whether you plan to come to the church will help us with planning. Rather than having an over-crowded sanctuary we could also offer a second service at 8:30 p.m.
As I write this, Christmas is still six weeks away. It is also true that today our Covid cases in Michigan are peaking again. Hospitals in West and Northern Michigan are nearly at capacity as of today. Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids recently increased their ICU staffing from three teams to eleven teams for Covid patients. Your Christmas plans may still be vague at this time. If you think you will come to the church, though, start letting us know now so that we can plan to add a service if necessary to keep social distancing at adequate levels. Let us know if you will be bringing friends or family, too. Remember that masks, while not required, are strongly recommended. We want everyone to have a safe, happy and healthy holiday season!
You can call the church at 517-351-7030. You can send email to email@example.com. Your help for our planning purposes will be very much appreciated. There will also be postings on social media platforms so that you can respond there as well. One response with the number attending would be great.
Finally, I also encourage you to share our YouTube channel link: University United Methodist Church – East Lansing (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_kRFs4nzb55BLxBOorcseA)
with your friends, family and neighbors. You can do this for any of our services. It is interesting to see people tuning in from various place around the country. This is also a nice way to share our church with people who may want to come and visit when the pandemic is over. It will end some day!
At University United Methodist Church, we affirm that as disciples of Jesus Christ, we are an open and inclusive congregation and welcome all persons into full participation regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic situation, age, ability, education, background and whether single or partnered.
