Here are some odds and ends and a couple of reminders…
This is Holy Week. A lot of people who don’t normally attend church will be considering it this week. INVITE SOMEONE! Remember the FRAN PLAN? Friends, Relatives, Acquaintances, and Neighbors just might be happy to receive your invitation this week. Who knows, maybe even a stranger would take you up on an invitation. Four out of five people surveyed say that they joined a church because someone they knew invited them. You have four opportunities to invite your FRANs this week.
Thursday, we will have Table Talk and Holy Communion for Maundy Thursday. This is a light supper with communion, a couple of hymns, and a guided discussion around the Last Supper. People will engage in table talk in groups of eight. It is worship, fellowship, and fun. Table Talk will be in Asbury Hall from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Friday, we will observe Good Friday with a brief service in the sanctuary from 12:00 to 12:30 p.m. This will be a meditative service on the Stations of the Cross.
On Sunday, we will mark the one month birthday of our REACH service. Parker and the REACH band are really good! The first three services have averaged 80 in attendance. REACH begins at 9:00 a.m. Invite your FRANs! Then at 10:00 a.m., Sara and Ethan have an Easter egg hunt planned for the kids. Some of your FRANs probably have children. Invite them! At 11:00 a.m., we will have our choir-led worship service with some great special music. Your FRANs will love it. Invite them!
Here is a “Good on ya!” to Pete Marvin and the Bridge Events Team. Bridge Events came to us from the VCI consultation. The Bridge Team works to build bridges between the church and the community. This past Monday, the Bridge Team hosted the Red Cedar Community Association for dinner. Thirty-one of our Flower Pot neighbors joined nineteen of us for a lasagna dinner. Then their association board met in our conference room. It was a good time and a great way to meet the neighbors!
There will be a town hall meeting on April 28th from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. The Policy Governance Board would like to hear your thoughts on the recent General Conference decisions and how you think we should proceed in the coming months. A survey will also be available. If you are not at the town hall, you can get the survey any time at church. We can also email it to you. Bishop Bard wants to take a poll at Annual Conference in May to see how many Michigan Conference churches may want to leave the UMC. We need input from the congregation. Please plan to attend. If you cannot attend, fill out a survey!
