UMCOR: Texas Storm Relief

UUMC Missions Committee
February 24, 2021

Last week an unprecedented winter storm led to severe weather conditions for over 170 million people. The state of Texas was particularly hard hit with power blackouts, loss of heat, and broken water pipes. As the snow and ice melts, there will be significant flooding. The UMC and other local churches are serving as warming centers and food banks.

The UUMC Missions Committee has pledged $5,000 to provide immediate assistance to those facing these hardships and other unforeseen financial issues. We are asking that the congregation support the UMCOR: Texas Storm Relief fund through your mail-in offerings (UUMC, 1120 S. Harrison Rd., East Lansing, MI 48823) or through Venmo (@UUMCDonation). You may also donate directly to UMCOR through Global Ministries here: https://umcmission.org/advance-project/901670/?utm_source=SilverpopMailing&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=USDR_Winter_Storms_02202021%20(1)&utm_content=&spMailingID=6618062&spUserID=MTkwODI4ODM1NDQwS0&spJobID=1200800635&spReportId=MTIwMDgwMDYzNQS2.

Your help is needed today. Thank you for your support!

At University United Methodist Church, we affirm that as disciples of Jesus Christ, we are an open and inclusive congregation and welcome all persons into full participation regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic situation, age, ability, education, background and whether single or partnered.
