Important Worship Notes

On Sunday, September 12, we will return to two services. On that day, The United Methodist Hymnal and The Faith We Sing Hymnal will be available in the pews.

The second coming of our Chancel Choir has been delayed for a month due to concerns about vaccinations and the Delta variant. Small ensembles and soloists will fill in depending on availability. We will assess the return of the choir on a month by month basis depending on safety and comfort levels for those who would be rehearsing and singing in close quarters.

Youth and children’s activities will be implemented slowly. They will be held outdoors, weather permitting, but not on Sundays. Hopefully, as we move through the fall, older youth may receive vaccinations. Nursery and small children’s activities will be the last to return in the interest of Covid safety.

Ushers will pass out a “mini bulletin” with staff contact information, office hours, current prayer concerns, upcoming events and our hospitality statement. The order of worship will not be included. This is to both save paper and to reduce the amount of things handled in the sanctuary. If you need large print paper for the order of worship contact the church office and that will be prepared for you.

The offering plates will remain on temporary leave of absence through the end of the year in order to avoid passing them among many hands. Offering baskets are available on the window sills so you may leave an offering after worship. Remember to enter the sanctuary via the center aisle and leave using the side aisles. This will minimize the number of people passing in close quarters. If you would like to learn how to give using a smart phone or e-giving, contact the church office. The Postal Service works well, too. Thank you for your continued funding of ministry at UUMC.

If you are fully vaccinated and are willing to serve as an usher, greeter, liturgist or coffee host please contact the church office.

As we deal with the Delta variant, you are encouraged to wear your mask in worship. Please do not linger in the building before or after services. Coffee will be served outside between and after services weather permitting and pending the availability of vaccinated volunteers who are comfortable helping.

At University United Methodist Church, we affirm that as disciples of Jesus Christ, we are an open and inclusive congregation and welcome all persons into full participation regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic situation, age, ability, education, background and whether single or partnered.
