I can’t believe I am saying this but it is already mid-September! What happened to the summer? It sure seemed to go by fast. Fall is rapidly coming upon us and with that comes the annual charge conference.

Our charge conference is called and presided over by our District Superintendent. In case you hadn’t noticed, we have a new DS, Rev. Dr. Jerome Devine. Speaking of things you may not have noticed, this is no longer the Lansing District or the West Michigan Conference. We are now in the Mid-Michigan District of The Michigan Conference. With the joining of the West Michigan and the Detroit Annual Conferences all of the districts were realigned and resized. Therefore, every Superintendent has more churches to cover and they are spread out over larger areas. Because of this, the fall charge conferences will be held at cluster sites. Ours will be on Wednesday, November 7 at 7:00 at Mt. Hope United Methodist Church.

One of the important matters of business that will be before us at the charge conference is the election of people to church membership. The committee on nominations and personnel will soon be meeting to nominate people for the following positions: Staff-Parish Relations (2), Trustees (2), Endowment Committee (1), Committee on Nominations and Personnel (4) and Policy Governance Board (3).
